BHUIKOT FORT, SOLAPUR

The Solapur Bhuikot Killa (Fort) is one of the major tourist locations in Solapur, Maharashtra. It is very well known for its name as Killa Bagicha, ('Killa' meaning fort, 'bagicha' meaning garden) as it is covered with gardens on either side. 
This fort is not only an ancient Muslim fort located in Solapur, but also one of the ancient historical and religious places in Maharashtra.The fort is a must visit for history lovers, scholars and enthusiastic tourists. 

Bhuikot fort is situated on the banks of Siddheshwar lake of Solapur, which witnessed many historical events. The fort was the refuge of many dynasties. This is the record of 'Fort of Solapur' given as dowry in marriage. It has many different stories attached to it. The fort has two gates, north gate and Mahakali gate, a Shani temple, a ruined Shiva temple with underground Shiva linga and a Mahakaleshwar temple and a mosque with beautiful carved ceiling and several pillars inside it. The fort got its name Bhuikot Killa as it is constructed on the land, hence the name. It also has an octagonal shaped well and a pond inside.

Well, the fort has gardens surrounded to it. The beautiful gardens surrounding the fort creates a serene and inviting atmosphere. From family picnics to school adventures, this garden has witnessed countless moments of joy and nostalgia.

As I stroll down memory lane, I can't help but smile at the vivid recollections of our family picnics at the fort garden. The hope would build as we packed our baskets with delicious treats, ready to spend a day surrounded by nature's beauty. The spacious garden provided the perfect backdrop for us to spread out our blankets and enjoy quality time together. We would play games, share laughter, and create memories that would last a lifetime.

I also remember in my senior KG, we embarked on a school picnic adventure to the fort garden. It was a day filled with excitement and the joy of exploring the world beyond the classroom walls. The garden's vast expanse became our playground as we ran, played, and discovered the wonders of nature with our teachers. The fort garden became a symbol of our shared adventures and youthful spirit.

Beyond the fort's walls, the garden beckons with its beauty and charm. As we walked through the garden, we would encounter vendors selling mouthwatering bhel and fluffy cotton candy. The mere sight of them would transport us back to carefree days, where indulging in these treats was a simple pleasure that brought immense joy.

The Killa Bagicha definitely is a testament to the power of nature, family, and friendship. It is a place where laughter resounds and cherished memories are etched into our souls. Whether it's the warmth of a family picnic or the magic of a school adventure, this garden has woven itself into the fabric of our lives, reminding us of the beauty of simpler times.
